Happy First Day of School!
Thought of the Day
Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president.
- Nelson Mandela
Bad Joke of the Day
A chicken walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "Do you have any corn?" No, we don't," says the bartender. The chicken leaves. He comes back the next day. "Do you have any corn?" he asks. "No, we don't, and if you ask me again I'll nail you to the wall!" yells the bartender. So the chicken leaves and comes back the next day and asks, "Do you have any nails?" "No," says the bartender. So the chicken asks, "Well, do you have any corn?"
Random Fact of the Day
Charter schools are public schools that are part of Minnesota's public education system. The schools are staffed by teachers with appropriate Minnesota teaching licensure or credentials. Charter schools are funded by the State of Minnesota in the same manner that traditional public schools are funded, except for revenues generated by local property tax levies. They may not levy taxes. Charter schools are free of charge to Minnesota students.
