Lesson 4-2

Vocabulary:
 Transformations-are movements of geometric figures
Preimage-is the position of the figure before the transformation
Image-is the position of the figure after the transformation
Reflection-a figure flipped over a line
Translation-a figure is slid in any direction
Dilation-a figure is enlarged or reduced
Rotation-a figure is turned around a point

Examples:

This triangle is Triangle ABC. A(-6,9)B(3,7)C(0,2) I am now going to reflect it over the X axis. The triangle is now Triangle A(-6,-9)B(-3,-7)C(0,-2).  *The pink
triangle is the preimage and the purple triangle is the image. Got it? :)
