Electives

When I taught at HRS we had weekly quarter-long elective classes. The following are some of the classes I taught. On each page you'll find resources used in the class.

Baseball Scoring & Statistics

In this class, students learned how to score baseball games and calculate various baseball statistics.

Stamp Collecting

Students were introduced to the hobby of stamp collecting. Topics included obtaining, soaking, and storing stamps. We also looked at stamp design and looking up stamps in a catalog.

Computers - Inside & Out

Students learned about the parts that make up a computer. They were able to put together a computer from old parts and take it home!

Digital Photography

In this class, students learned how to take better digital photographs. After taking pictures, the students edited them using The Gimp, which is an open-source alternative to Photoshop.

Build Your Own Webpage

Students created a webpage on Yahoo! Geocities using a program called Sea Monkey. How the Internet works and being safe online were also covered.
